I loved everything about the workbook.  It was the PERFECT follow-up to the introductory e-book. I felt like I needed these steps after the e-book.  It took me on a journey from learning specific breathing techniques to how to improve my sleep, how to calculate how much water I need, how to use my hand to measure the correct quantities of food, to moving my body adequately by simply adopting a consistent walking routine, to how to do effective meditation. I loved the last part of the book that went deeper into the emotional aspect of things including sharing kindness, reflecting on your life, and putting an emphasis on gratitude.

One of the sentences in one of the practices really stood out for me: "If your body could speak, what would it say?"  This resonated with me a lot because I've been trying to listen to my body but when I read that line I realized that I haven't really been asking myself the right questions.

The practices were easy but they take dedication -- especially the more emotional ones.  Alex provides the tools to make the journey easy, but you need to put aside the time, energy and commitment to follow through on the steps that she lays out.

I liked all the practices, but my favorites were the last part of the book that focused on meditation, gratitude, reflection and kindness because Alex lays out questions and scenarios that I hadn't thought of before. She forces you to really tap into your deepest feelings and emotions and to confront many questions that might have otherwise remained unanswered your entire life.  The phrases that she provides for reflection are very powerful.

It's an amazing guide to starting a happiness journey.  It offers all the foundational work necessary to delve deeper into your life – all aspects of your life – and to begin shifting your focus to finding happiness.  I would go one step further and say that the book provides a solid foundation for how to simply be a better person and live a better life.

She was stuck for 20 years in an unending holding-pattern of unsuccessfully chasing happiness and freedom.  In 2014 her personal life took a hard knock when her marriage ended.  The divorce was devastating, shattering her into tiny, scattered pieces.  Over the two years that followed she went on an incredible journey where she found her health, her happiness, her freedom; but most importantly found her true self.
